I had to check the bird damage in the Tempranillo. Last year the starling took about half the crop. This year they have barely touched it. Initially Dad thought it might be the increased rain providing alternative food sources for the starling. However he visited another vineyard and found they had huge troubles with birds this year.
A few years back Dad read an article which suggested that starling mistook white pigeons for hawks. So Dad bought a few - we now have 14. Seems they might be working.....
