So I think I got the H1N1 strain of flu, more commonly known as swine flu. This wont be confirmed because rural health services wont test me. Great. It would have been nice to have had it on paper, I'm not sure why, maybe to frame.
I have decided to look on the positive side of this. I didn't get overly ill, I wouldn't have even considered I had the flu had I not got a call form Dan on Monday say Michael had confirmed H1N1, only a few days after I stayed the night. NSW health, the most they could do for me was to say that if I was within 1 m of someone with H1N1 I could have caught it. So while I cant confirm it I am reasonably sure.
The other reason I think I got this strain was that it was incredibly mild, it seems you either get it and end up on a ventilator in ICU or its very mild. Mine was mild. The reason I am happy about this is , thanks to my microbiological background I understand that being hit early, by a young strain will be very beneficial in the antibodies I have produced, should the strain mutate dramatically in the billions of people it has/will infect (because it is soo contagious), means I will be able to fight this super strain much more easily.
Ok enough said, I'm still making sure I am completely over this by taking care of myself somewhat and going to bed at a reasonable time.
