At 4 pm on Friday I realised my visa was going to expired on Saturday, 4pm being the exact time the Immigration office shut for the weekend.... so the following morning Choco and I caught a ferry to Surat Thani with the idea of hiring a car and driving to Burma where I could cross the boarder and get another thirty day visa. However by the time we got to Surat Thani and found somewhere to rent a car it was too late. In order not to waste the day we went shopping. Surat Thani is a large city and is much cheaper than Samui. We then caught the ferry back to Samui in time to have dinner with Dennis and Ohm and go dancing in the Green Mango with Pan! Another Messy night, home at about 6am!
The following Monday I went to the Immigration office in Samui to see about a visa extension, they were very happy to give me one for 7 days - I thought I could get a 10 days extension... a whole extra three days would have been much appreciated in order to determine which country I was leaving Thailand for. But they very kindly didnt charge me the extra $35 for overstaying my visa by two days, so I cant really complain! After making my presence in Thailand legal again we headed off to a waterfalls. We were going to visit two waterfall, one 20m and the other 80m. These waterfalls were supposed to be spectacular and while they were pretty it wasnt amazing. We left feeling very disappointed. It wasnt until we got down and I remembered that there was a mummified dead monk in sunglassed somewhere nearby. We found him just across from the waterfall we visited, but on the map it was a long was from the waterfall we were trying to get to..... supposedly the 80m waterfall really does exist and really is spectacular... next time.... The monk was interesting, I didnt take photos as I though it would be rude, especially when two girls were praying next to us, however taking photos is not as rude as you may think, there are postcards of the monk. I found the sunglasses an interesting addition, but Choco found out that while the monks body had mummified, his eyes hadnt... so hes wearing sunnies so as not to freak people out when they are looking at a 20 year old mummy with no eyes!
As I only had a 7 day extension - minus the two days I had already overstayed, we had to leave Thailand.... We booked flights, leaving very early on Saturday morning - 6 am, meaning we had to be at the airport by 5am.... The night before we went out for dinner with Dennis... this was a huge mistake! We arrived at dinner at 10 pm, stayed for a few hours then it was decided we should head to Q Bar for a few more drinks and some dancing. We got home around 4 am and left for the airport at 5 am.... hoping we had packed everything!
