I may "have" to go on a 3 day winery tour of Northern Victoria.

It's a hard life.

Driving home from one of the other vineyards last night I saw the flashing lights of a police car along the road, as I got closer I saw many more lights. I counted 4 firetrucks and a few police cars. then I saw a car resting on its roof. No ambulance so I'm assuming it happened a while before I drove past. But a short while later I saw another firetruck on its way. Not really sure why so many firetrucks were needed, but better safe than sorry.

this morning

I didn't prune today as it was too cold. And it appears I am not alone in disliking work at low temperatures. The pH meter in the lab wasn't working properly, upon investigation I realised that it thought 10 degrees was too cold to work. 10 degrees! That's nearly balmy weather compared to the temperature in the vineyard!

My mother recently bought a piece of land in the middle of nowhere. A pretty middle of nowhere, but cold also. I don't know what she is going to do with it, many idea's have been put forward in the past 18 months - it took the guy selling it a long time to get himself organised. There has been talk of a Eco B&B, a yoga retreat, a artist retreat, a goat farm, a truffle farm.... who knows what will eventually happen with it. We went up on Friday with my aunt Helen and some of her children. We were going to have a BBQ lunch. We decided against it. It was freezing.

I spent a little longer in Sydney than I planned.

Just as I was about to head back to the vineyard after spending the weekend visiting my grandfather in hospital, Dad told me not to bother as the weather was miserable.

This gave me more time to spend visiting the hospital. No photos as I don't find hospital overly photogenic places, although there was one on Samui which was...

I intended to be up the following weekend for my grandmother's surprise 80th - meant to be held in the Hunter Valley, but that wasn't to be. At least my grandfather was out of hospital for it.

I did managed to get to the Cross for a dance, unfortunately one of my companions managed to get trashed very quickly, he thought - upon receiving two drink when only ordering one - that he would drink them both faster than we consumed our one....

I'm now back at the vineyard with the flu. Wonderful.

My grandfather turned 86 today.

I went to see him bearing chocolates and flowers.

We had a celebratory beer.

We were in hospital.

He was admitted on his birthday.
