Leaving Laos, we headed for Chang Mai for a few days, there are great night markets in Chang Mai, nearly anything you could want as a souvenir, I spent the time having massages, having gotten in the habit of having one every day or so in Laos. 30 min for $2, how can you go wrong???? They were wonderful.... Not sure if anything else of importance happened up in Chang Mai.....
After Chang Mai we flew back to Ko Samui, arriving back very late at night. The following day we decided to head to Ko Phangan, but first we went to pay our respects to Dennis (and leave most of our luggage at his office...). Dennis suggested we have lunch before leaving.... the following morning I was asked where we were, how we got there and what happened the night before.... we werent on Ko Phangan, but at Ohms house on Ko Samui.....
We finally got the boat to Ko Phangan, paid a fortune to get to Had Yao (Ploy - were I have spent the majority of my time in Thailand, prior to this trip that is!), which was wonderful to finally be back even thought it was a little traumatic in the fact that it was only for an afternoon, not the rest of my life! Returning to Had Rin (Yuck!) I rang a friend and arranged to have dinner. We had a wonderful meal and it just so happened that the friends boss was also eating in the restaurant, so paid our bill on his way out! Some of us then headed for Had rin beach for a dance!
The following day we unsuccessfully tried catch up with the boys - but they had to go fill a fishing boat with ice..... so we headed back to Ko Samui.
I was the only one brave enough to face another night of drinking with Dennis! We ended up back at his office, drinking champagne and Rose at 6 am and ordering takeaway from the local thai shop.... I then crashed in bed with Dennis - so few girls can brag of such a thing!!! Ohm didnt want to stay, he was feeling a little unwell, even though (and maybe because.... alcohol does cure many ills...) he hadnt been out drinking with us.....
Sunday - Roast at The Pub, meet Colin and his boys at Mae Nam for a few more drinks (Also met a guy from Wagga who was involved in producing Hey Hey its Saturday.... random), sunset at the Jungle Club, dinner and a few more drinks at Colins = relatively quiet Sunday.
Monday - celebrate my thesis being accepted and the end of my companions holiday with Champagne on the beach at Bo Phut, put them on a ferry to the mainland and spend the rest of the day relaxing!
I had intended to leave the next Day but Ohm made me change my flights as it was his birthday the day after! Dennis got his old house back so we had to throw a big party, you (or in this case Ohm) only turns 23 once! Unfortunately one of the guys from the guys from the office was sick hence Ohm had to work and I had to prepare for the party - with the help from Dennis' engineering team! It was a fabulous party, I didnt sleep but checked into my flight to Bangkok at 5:30am.
THE LADY NEXT TO ME TALKED THE WHOLE WAY TO BANGKOK!!!!! - so very impressed!
In Bangkok I had just finished up a call from a friend in Ko Phangan when a guy walks up to me and asks if I was staying in the (insert some very expensive hotel that I will never be able to afford) last night. I regretfully tell him I wasnt... He asks were I am headed and I tell him London, hes going to Hong Kong. At that point another friend rings. I excuse myself to take the call, but the guy keeps pace with me, the next moment he hands me his card, saying he would really like to hear from me.... bizarre, I didnt really see the point in trying to chat someone up in the airport, but hey you never know your luck!!!
Goodbye Asia!!!
