Pop Khun mai ka

I am reluctantly back in Australia. I came very close to both food poisoning and an ear infection, unfortunately not just as an excuse for not being able to fly.

My last two weeks in Samui were, well as life normally goes for me in Samui, eating, drinking, dancing, waking up for some breakfast beers, relaxing, eating, drinking, dancing, waking up for some breakfast beers... With about 5 massages throw in for good measure. I'm really surprised I didn't have more, must have spent too much time sleeping it off....

While each trip has a similar format, the people I eat, drink and dance with does change somewhat. Dennis and Pan are the main constants, although their work habits regulate how much contact I have with each. And they are both in very different social groups. Aside from Singapore I only saw Pan three times. This was similar to my last visit, which was part of the reason for the Singapore trip. This trip, as Maxine had been kicked off the island, I spent more time eating and drinking with Scott, going out with Ohm and dancing with Nu. I didn't see Colin - he was not on the Island, nor did I see Tony and Maria, they didn't even turn up for Dennis' birthday. It was nice to get to know Scott a little better and he seemed to think I was very misunderstood on the island purely because of the proportion of time I was sober... Ohm and I needed to give Dennis a little space, or more correctly, Dennis told me to take Ohm out. Nu is gorgeous, we had such fun together, she works at Christy's cabaret show, so I would often watch the show and we would head to Sweet Soul after for a dance and a few drinks. Gorgeous, gorgeous girl. Who occasionally ring me just to tell me she picked up the night before. So cute.

I went up to the Jungle club on my last Sunday in Samui, first time I have been in over 1.5 years. When we arrived, It, the owner, reminded me of my first ever visit, over 2.5 years ago. Something I would like to forget. Thai people have amazing memories. As I also noticed when I walked back into Sweet Soul after a year away and when I got a taxi at Bang Rak. When I walked over to the taxi stand in Chaweng on my last day, the complete conversation was carried out in Thai, beginning with the Pai Nee? - go where? from the drivers as they too recognised me. Some Farang standing around were slightly amused. They even remembered exactly where I stay! It really feels like home to me. More people know me on Samui than in the town I live in/near, in Australia, but thats propbably not a huge surprise, I think I have had a total of 6 beers in town in 6 years.

The whole purpose for my visit, aside from a holiday, was to celebrate Dennis' birthday. In order to celebrate in style, he had the inside of his house renovated. This was rather unfortunate timing for me, I tended to get home between 4 and 6 am each night and sleep most of the day - it was monsoon season, there wasn't much else to do! However the banging, sanding, demolishing started around 8 or 9 am... The house looked lovely for the party and I look forward to seeing it next time. Choco wold nearly drive past without recognising it. I am really looking forward to the pool! I am able to ring up the boys and go across to Colin's anytime I like but its not quite the same as having a pool downstairs.

The party was lots of fun, people everywhere in the house, unfortunately at times in my bedroom! And there was a dance floor set up downstairs and we had two DJs. Ohm had bought fireworks, unfortunately someone decided it would be a good idea to set one off from the top balcony area, which was crowded with people. One guy was hurt and there was some damage done to the furniture... that ended that. Towards the end of the night, I had to evict some people locked in the spare bedroom..... friends were going to stay in there, but when they saw the state of it they decided to go home. When just about everyone had left a bunch of Frenchmen turned
up and wanted to continue the party. We let them play for an hour then told them to leave, heading to bed as the sun was rising.

Aside from catching up with friends I also caught up on all the gossip, it's an amazing soap opera and it's fantastic to get a glimpse at its evolution every year - last year does seem to have been a pretty good season! But you will have to excuse me for leaving out the really juicy bits.... I want to be allowed back! Lets just say it involved murder, infamous celebrities (trying to sleep with anyone other than their partner), "interesting" payouts, people getting into very unusual relationships and of course plenty of sex! Until next time.....
