Pruning has started,

in the nick of time - I emailed off a copy of a research paper one day and the following I was told to prune. We had to wait a while after harvest, while the vines have leaves they are photosynthesising and replenishing reserves for next year. But now pruning has started. However it has started slowly, the weather has been miserable.... rain, wind, cloud, although there has been some sun, enough that the fist day I have thought I might need sunscreen but after that I didn't seee the sun...

In case your interested - and really I'm not so why would you be - but the vines I am currently attending to I'm cane and 2-bud spur pruning...

I think I did a good job...

Are you sure 2 bud spur pruning is the best method? I personally prefer the 8 fold path.

Oh no the 2 bud spur pruning is definietley better for water stressed wines. 8 folding is for wetter climates where growth is stronger. It is often combined with a lack of trellissing and substantial lack of effort.

No. Fucking. Way. 8 fold is a method? It was a rather obscure reference on my part to Buddhism.

Sorry I was taking the piss. As far as I know there is no 8 fold method.
