Back to Samui, briefly

Upon our return from Singapore I only had a few nights before I was flying out to Sydney. After cooking dinner for Dennis on my second last night, I headed to Ark Bar to meet up with Pan. We had a couple of drinks before meeting Kai and Beer at Solo Bar. From there we headed to Sweet Soul Cafe in Green Mango. We had a great time dancing and found ourselves with an audience. Some members of the audience bought a round of shots, then another and another and another... its all got a little messy after that for the other girls, so they all went home. The French guy who had been buying the shots was trying to pick me up, he didn't want to take no for an answer but I set him straight and walked off to get a taxi.

The following day I had a first and last swim at Choeng Mon, a first and last meal at the Mangrove then headed back to Ark bar to meet Beer. We had a few drinks then met Kai at Dream Girls Bar. I hadn't been before. I think we were the only group of people with more females than male and I also think I was the only western girl in the place. It was an interesting experience, Thai culture is a lot more liberal in some respects, ladyboys, prostitution, pole dancing, these are all very accepted. After a drink there we headed back to Sweet Soul Cafe, more buckets, more dancing. At one point I saw the French guy from the night before. He was kissing someone. He saw me and came over, still trying to pick me up... I ignored him and he went back to kissing this person, a little later I realised the person he was kissing was a ladyboy... I think everyone in the bar knew "she" was a ladyboy apart from him. They were being very intimate in the middle of the dance floor when I went home.

I said goodbye to Nicki and Tim before flying out to Bangkok. The French guy was on my flight out of Samui... In Bangkok on the bus from the plane to the airport he spotted me and smiled, I couldn't help but smile back... once at the airport he waited for me and said hi, I asked if he had had a good night, he sheepishly smiles and said yes. He had no idea he had been kissing a ladyboy (and who knows what else happened), I was tempted to tell him but I'm sure he wouldn't have believed me anyway. Most amusing!
