Charlie's brother Steve was also visiting and both boys were feeling a little delicate after a big one the night before. Charlie and Annie's have a wonderful house which backs onto the beach. Following a tour of the house garden and beach we celebrated our arrival with a bottle of Tassie sparkling, followed by a few bottles of red over a delicious lunch and a few games of chess - including a partnered game - not something I had tried before. Annie and I took a walk along the beach before dinner while the boys continued with their chess. The beach was deserted, so very peaceful, but the sun set quickly and the temperature dropped so we headed home for dinner. After dinner came the chocolate cake, then a cheese plate and some fantastic muscat... Tasmania was really growing on me.... great cheese, great seafood, great wine....if only is was a little warmer!
The following day after a few games of tennis, tenpin bowling and some boxing in the TV room - courtesy of Charlie's Wii, we headed out for lunch at a local winery. The food, setting and wines were all fantastic. Then it was on to another winery for a tasting before heading home via a stop to pick up some fresh oysters and another at a lookout out. The oysters were amazing, firstly as bloody Mary shots then natural.. After dinner it was decided to divide the remaining chocolate cake into 4 - Steve had gone back to Launceston. I was little scared at the amount of very rich chocolate cake on my plate, but as everyone else managed to finish theirs I didn't want to be the only one defeated. It took me nearly 2 hours but I did manage it all! That said we didn't get around to the cheese plate that night. After a game of "Genes" trivial pursuit we headed to bed early as Matt and I had to get up at 6am to catch our flight home.
All in all a very lovely, relaxing weekend!
